USA Fencing and FIE (USA and worldwide fencing organizations) categorize Fencing Coaches at four levels:
Maestro in Foil, Saber, Epee
Coach Brian is a Maestro di Scherma and the third American to complete the Italian National Training course from Accademia Nazionale di Scherma (Italy), in 2023.
Coach Brian is a fun teacher, he makes the classes easy to understand and is an expert in holding the fencer’s attention as they learn. As a Maestro he scales easily from a fun beginner coach to a more serious and inspirational competitive coach. He has brought the joy of fencing to hundreds of students. He is a three-weapon Master (Foil, Saber, and Epee).
Coach Brian was a student of Maestri Igor Celli (Saber) and William Gaugler (Foil), both of whom are graduates of the Accademia. Maestro Gaugler was the second American to earn the title of Maestro di Scherma from the Accademia and was the last American Student of the great Aldo Nadi (Silver in Saber) Olympian, and Italy’s greatest fencer.
Coach Brian teaches Foil, Saber and Epee.
